Through Our Lens

Sokol Grad wasn’t just a fortress it protected the lifeline of the Dubrovnik Republic. Perched atop a 25-meter cliff, the castle watched over the river mills that produced the bread feeding the city. If those mills fell, so did one of Dubrovnik’s most essential resources. Sometimes the strongest defenses weren’t built to protect gold they were built to protect the next meal.

We rented a small boat and set out to explore the stunning Adriatic Sea, enjoying crystal-clear waters, passing picturesque islands, and taking in a completely different perspective of the Balkan coastline. Along the way, we also dive into the fascinating history of the sea that has connected Italy and the Balkans for thousands of years.
